Babylon 5 Comics

DC Comics published 11 Babylon 5 comics in 1995. The series, despite having its contract extended to 24 issues in July 1995, was ended prematurely at the end of the year. Straczynski wrote the first issue, but bowed out of further writing duties due to DC's editorial policies where, as a writer, his scripts were subject to being rewritten by an editor (and did in fact receive appalling revisions, according to a post by Straczynski on CompuServe in April, 1996). Straczynski ended up supplying the story premises for the first 8 issues (which covered two story arcs).

In 1998, Babylon 5 returned to DC Comics with the three issue In Valen's Name series, which was created "in-house" by Straczynski and Peter David to avoid DC's editorial policies, and was originally published in the UK by the Babylon 5 Official Monthly Magazine.

Issues 1-4 and 11 were collected in a compilation titled The Price of Peace and issues 5-8 were collected in a compilation titled Shadows Past and Present, with both titles taken from the story arcs of the collected issues.
